Advantage Creative

Posted on 05/10/18 Maker Bootcamp is back

We’re really pleased to announce that Maker Bootcamp - our incubator for young creatives – will be running again from 18 October to 6 December at the Wavemaker maker-space in Stoke-on-Trent.

Maker Bootcamp is for young people (16-30) in the Stoke and Staffordshire area, to help give them the inspiration, practical help and support they need in getting into the creative industries.

We have a special focus on helping young people set up as a creative freelancer or start their own business.

All events are free to attend, as the cost of taking part (average £678 per person for each complete Maker Bootcamp experience) is supported and funded by the Nat West Skills & Opportunities Fund.

Each Thursday from 18 October to 6 December we will offer a packed programme of activities at the Wavemaker maker-space (Mitchell Arts Centre, Board Street, Hanley. ST1 4HG).

18 October:

Welcome and introduction from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, where you can meet the Wavemaker team and our business mentors and hear from some of our previous participants.

You will get the chance to network with others and our Stoke-on-Tech group over pizza and beer, and you can join the evening Stoke-on-Tech talk led by Steven Silk.

Mornings from 25 October onwards:

“Open” sessions in the Wavemaker maker-space, where you can learn how to use the maker equipment, develop your maker skills, or hot-desk with other creatives.

Afternoons from 25 October onwards:

Workshops with industry experts on practical skills for creatives including:

  • Maker Basics – 2D and 3D design workshops that will run you through the software, equipment, and tools in the Wavemaker space to support your creative practice
