Qualifications

Ramona holds a LLB (Law) Degree & LLM (International Trade Law) Degree. From 2000, she has helped small to multi-million pound businesses resolve their disputes and comply with all legal matters, during her time as a commercial litigation barrister in Kuala Lumpur and solicitor in Stoke-on-Trent. She was also a volunteer adviser to a charity in Basel on setting up the charity, opening a café, shop and nursery.

Current business support activities

Ramona was part of the Careers Academy at Newcastle under Lyme College (2012 – 2014) mentoring business students. Since 2013, Ramona has been providing business advice to micro-businesses in India, South Africa and Indonesia. Her advice has enabled artisan businesses to grow to the next level and export their goods into retail shops across the UK. She currently sits on the Council of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, involved in the development of business policy in the Staffordshire area. With her social enterprise expertise, she is involved voluntarily with a local charity on the setting up of an enterprise arm for their charity.

Background

Ramona has 16 years’ experience of the business sector through her legal and entrepreneurial work. Since 2010, she has been running two businesses, a room lettings business as well as Little Trove, her ethical homeware business. She deals with all aspects of business start-ups: business plans, legal & regulatory, product development, international trade, intellectual property, sales & marketing and e-commerce.

She is carving out a niche in the area of social value creation for enterprise. She is an entrepreneur who has also founded other start-up businesses such as the new Ceramics Candle Company in Staffordshire.

In 2013 & 2014, Ramona was awarded the Business Boost Award by Newcastle Borough Council for entrepreneurial spirit and social enterprise.

She speaks 3 languages fluently, which she uses for business communications with suppliers and customers.
